SERDANG, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UniRazak) celebrated 1,468 of its graduands at the university’s 14th Convocation Ceremony held at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), recently.

The two-day event was officiated by UniRazak’s Chancellor, Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid and the Pro Chancellors Tan Sri Andrew Sheng Len Tao and Datuk Mohamed Nizam Abdul Razak.

Ten graduands received their doctoral degree (PhD), Masters (42), Bachelor Degree (1,025) and Diploma (409) in various programmes.

In his speech, UniRazak’s President and Vice Chancellor, Prof Datuk Seri Dr. Md. Zabid Hj. Abdul Rashid said that this year, the university's enrolment increased to 56 per cent compared to last year which showed the level of awareness of parents as well as potential students on the importance and advantages of enrolling into universities offering specialised educational programmes that are in line with the employment opportunities created by the nation’s Economic Transformation Plan (ETP).

The General Manager / President of Bank Rakyat Datuk Hj. Mustafha Hj. Abd. Razak was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy for Business Administration in Banking and Islamic Finance for his contributions in the development of Islamic banking in the country. He has been involved in the banking industry for more than 23 years.

The convocation also witnessed the conferment of the Chancellor’s Award to Diwa Samad, the holder of a Bachelor Degree in Economics and the President's Award to Jehan Sinariah Binti Sofian from Business Administration (Banking and Islamic Finance) programme.

The Best Student’s Award went to Liew Zhi Hong from the Bank Rakyat School of Business and Entrepreneurship and Uma a/p Venugopal from the Razak School of Government.

Also present were members of other higher education institutions, UniRazak’s Board Members, Management Committee, senate members and academicians.
